New Orleans Jazz Festival - Since 1970, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has been bringing soulful sounds to the Big Easy in an event that now draws 650,000 people every year. Visit New Orleans in late April and early May for music you won't hear anywhere else. Past performers include Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul Simon, the Allman Brothers Band, Joni Mitchell, and Al Green. Cafe Du Monde - Located right in the heart of the French Quarter on Decatur Street, Cafe Du Monde has been serving up hot beignets and fabulous coffee since 1862. Stop in to enjoy dark roasted coffee, hot chicory, white and chocolate milk, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and the amazing beignets. Beignets are square French-style doughnuts that are dusted with powdered sugar so they melt in your mouth. On warm days, iced coffee is also available.
